This strategic industry comprises the productive activities related to chemical products, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, essential oils, perfumery, toilet or cosmetic preparations, soap, cleaning products and medical apparatuses.

 

In Mexico, this industry is based mainly in the State of Mexico, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Federal District, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Coahuila, Morelos and Tabasco, among others.

 

With regard to medical apparatuses, Mexico’s role is very important, since it is the world’s fifth exporter; likewise, it is the United States’ main supplier, above China. Mexico is also the second largest market in Latin America, after Brazil. More than 130 companies dedicated to the manufacture and repair or assembly of medical apparatuses are installed in our country, which in terms of exports totaled 1.306 billion dollars in 2008.
