- A meeting was held with Chancellor Patricia Espinosa Cantellano to discuss the development of preparations for Mexico’s participation in the 2010 Shanghai Universal Expo. Likewise, the national pavilion was presented to Patricia Flores, Chief of the Presidency Office. Both officers expressed their interest in participating in the Expo’s opening ceremony and in the Mexican pavilion.
- Mexico’s General Commissioner for the 2010 Shanghai Universal Expo, Eduardo Seldner Avila, presented the museography project before Mexico’s Ambassador in Beijing, Jorge Guajardo.
- A meeting was held with the Chairperson of the National Council for Culture and Arts (CONACULTA), Consuelo Saizar, to discuss the development of the preparations of Mexico’s participation in the Expo and to request support for the loan of the art collection that was selected for the pavilion. Ms. Saizar confirmed that CONACULTA and its affiliates—Fundación Televisa, Galería OMR, Ministry of Finances and Public Credit and Fomento Cultural Banamex—will be lending their support.
After the loan request, the Ministry of Finances and Public Credit confirmed that it will be loaning the work “Río Revuelto” by José Chávez Morado; while the Robert Brady Museum Foundation confirmed that it will be loaning Frida Kahlo’s “Autorretrato con mono”. Also, Fundación Televisa confirmed that it will loan “Retablo de la Virgen de los Dolores” and committed to sponsoring the “nail to nail” insurance to cover lent pieces against all type of risks.
