A meeting was held with the Coordination of Advisors of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation to discuss the development of the preparations for Mexico’s participation in the 2010 Shanghai Universal Expo. In August, the Ministry will present a thematic week at the Mexican pavilion’s Business Center.
- The construction works for the unfinished building of the Mexican pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Universal Expo were completed. Interior works are progressing according to schedule.
The National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) delivered material and information for the “City and Nature” information hall.
The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) made the first delivery of the virtual tour of the Mexican pavilion (Online Pavilion). The material was presented to Dr. César Chávez, from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), and Sara Topelson, deputy minister of the Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOL). They both approved the content and made relevant additions to it.
Also, Mexico’s General Commissioner for the Shanghai Expo, Eduardo Seldner Avila, and the deputy minister of SEDESOL, Sara Topelson, recorded messages regarding the future of Mexican cities. These messages will be part of the virtual tour, which will be launched online on May 1st.
UNAM continues developing the project.
- ProMexico is working with Mexico’s Tourism Promotion Council (CPTM) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SER) to determine the participation of the various Mexican states in the culture, arts, gastronomy, tourism and business promotion programs during the six months of the Expo.
Some of the states that have expressed their interest in participating in the pavilion are Jalisco, Veracruz, Puebla, the State of Mexico, the Federal District, Chiapas, Queretaro, Baja California and Nuevo Leon.
