Universal Exposition Shanghai 2010 (May 1st - October 31st 2010) constitutes a world effort to propose new ways of life in view of the challenges society faces.
More than 190 countries and almost 50 international organizations have come together at Universal Expo 2010 to show the world their cities and the challenges these will have to solve to foster more sustainable environments.

Expo 2010 Shanghai is the first universal exposition dedicated to urbanism, a key topic in the 21st century, as it is estimated that 55 percent of the world population will live in cities as of 2010, so the prospect of future urban life is a theme that falls to all nations and their people.
With the theme “Better City, Better Life”, the organizers of Expo 2010 Shanghai convened the international community to explore for six months the potential of urban life in the 21st century: type of habitat and work conditions.
According to its Organizing Committee, attendance to Expo Shanghai 2010 will be of around 70 million visits.
This universal exposition is a learning experience on how to create “eco-friendly” societies (whose priority is respect for the environment and development of natural resources) and favor the sustainable development of human beings in order to improve the quality of life in cities. The Master Plan is based on the concept of City of Harmony: Harmony between man and nature; harmony between past, present and future; and harmony among human beings.
