The organizers of Universal Exposition 2010 installed 33 stage areas to offer 20,000 shows during the event (May 1st - October 31st 2010).

The sites include seven stages in concert halls in which musical events and ballets are being presented, as well as 26 open-air stages in which parades, expressions of folkloric art and street shows are being held. The events area occupies a total area of 0.48 square kilometers with a capacity for 68,000 spectators.
Hu Jinjun, deputy director of the Coordination Bureau for Expo 2010, stated that at least three artistic performances would be presented daily in each of these stages throughout the duration of this universal exposition.
The events area will be transformed into an international cultural center when Expo Shanghai 2010 finishes.
